BASIC FUNCTIONS & SCOPE
Clinicalinstructors are responsible for providing effective instruction and assessment during laband clinical practice of undergraduate nursing students in the university and clinical setting. The clinical instructor must identify the strength and weaknesses of nursing students, while providing a nurturing atmosphere ofexperiential training where students can grow intellectually as well as professionally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in nursing.
- A minimum offive years clinical experience in their specialized practice areas including medical surgical or critical care units.
- Prior clinical /lab teaching experience is preferred.
Licensure requirement
- Hold a valid licensure in country of qualification.

- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Effective presentation and demonstration skills, both theoretical and practical
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
- A high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the learning environment and teaching methodology
- Current knowledge of the specialized discipline, trends and issues
- Evidence of a personal professional development plan.
- Experience of working with high fidelity simulation equipment is preferred
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain nursing labs stuffed with adequate consumables to meet the practical learning needs of students for all nursing labs or clinical courses.
- Develop a system to track lab assets, equipment and consumables.
- Collaborate with nursing faculty to align teaching in labs and clinical with the course learning outcomes of the theoretical course that is delivered at the same semester.
- Deliver teaching utilizing innovative teaching modalities in lab and clinical settings.
- Demonstrate skills utilizing up to date knowledge,
- Ensure that each student demonstrated safely and accurately the skills/competencies that is expected to master based on the course learning outcomes.
- Develop a filing system that trackall signed off skills/ competences for each nursing students..
- Support faculty with the development and upgrade the objectives and competencies for lab and clinical skills and assessments both in labs and clinical area.
- Monitor student progress to ensure stated objectives are adequately addressed and met.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for nursing students.
- Maintain student confidentiality.
- Assess student competence to identify strengths and address weaknesses.
- Communicate with the program lead for any concerns or questions regarding student progress as soon as issues arise.
